A Daily Trust report has earned Hajiya Uwa Yusuf, a Kaduna-based lady taking care of five abandoned babies, Saudi Embassy cash assistance in the form of a donation.
The donation was prompted by a recent report in the Daily Trust of August13 which caught the attention of the ambassador.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Saudi envoy to Nigeria, Fahad Abdullah Sefyan Sefyan emotionally described Hajiya Yusuf as an icon of mercy which he said should be emulated by all Muslims.
“What you are doing, taking care of abandoned children, is something all Muslims who pray for Aljannat Firdaus should be doing, Muslims should have pity for one another because that is the only way help can be rendered to the less-privileged,” he said.
“For every breath these children take, Allah is rewarding you because you have given them life and hope when their mother abandoned them to die and I pray Allah gives you long life and faith to raise this children within Islamic injunction,” Sefyan added.
He called on well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to come to the children’s aid, adding that “Nothing is too small or big for such a noble cause.”
