Shagaya’s name was initially forwarded as the coordinator of the harmonization committee in the state.
The three legacy parties that make up the APC had agreed to share key positions in the party with the ACN providing the state coordinator while the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) will nominate the secretary and the position of treasurer would be filled by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
The Tuesday meeting which dragged till late in the evening could not resolve the issues and the parties were asked to go back to INEC and bring the authentic list of the state officials and hold exco meetings to produce their nominees.
Each of the legacy parties according to the agreement are to present three other nominees that would make the committee.
The meeting of the elders and former excos of the merging parties’ was called by the national ex-officio of the party Jock Alamba and was held at the secretariat of APC in Jos.
Speaking at the meeting, Alamba who represents of Plateau in the national interim committee of the APC said the aim of the meeting is to consult with the legacy parties and discuss how to come up with a harmonization committee that is acceptable to all the stakeholders of the APC.
Alamba added, “We have held meetings of elders and other stakeholders of the party on three occasions to look at the template on the selection of those that would make the list of the harmonization committee in the state unfortunately I made a fundamental error regarding the attendance, I failed to invite critical stakeholders from ANPP, sensitive position of those that would man the harmonization committee cannot be done without critical stakeholders”.
Our correspondent observed the absence of stakeholders in the meeting including General Shagaya, ex-minister Dasuki Nakande who was earlier announced to be the coordinator and secretary of the harmonization committee respectively and host of others were also not in the meeting.
