The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has said a revamped Commodities Exchange Ecosystem will soon be launched and that thousands of farmers across the country will be empowered.
The Acting Director General of SEC, Mrs. Mary Uduk, disclosed this yesterday during the Financial Awareness Campaign at the Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.
The awareness programme is part of activities to mark World Investors Week.
Represented at the event by Mr. Francis Uzoma Okafor, SEC Head of Investor Education, the ag DG said the commodity exchange ecosystem hoped to revamp the groundnut pyramids of old and other agricultural feats Nigeria once attained.
“We are hoping to establish and revamp the commodity exchange that will compete, if not outpace stock exchanges. There is a committee that has submitted report on the Commodity Exchange Ecosystem. It is the implementation stage that we are now,” the ag DG said.
