In a briefing at the end of a two-day meeting in Abuja on Saturday, executive officers of PALU said the objective of the meeting was to kick off its Pan-African Anti-Corruption Campaign.
The briefing was jointly held by the vice president for West Africa, Emeka Obegolu; East Africa vice president, Eric Kyalo Mutua, and PALU Chief Executive Officer, Donald O. Deya.
They explained that PALU will provide a platform for African lawyers’ campaign against the scourge of corruption on the continent.
They also announced plans for PALU’s forthcoming conference in September in Abuja with the theme, ‘Corruption: The Role of the Legal Profession in Africa’ where the code of ethics will be presented to African lawyers.
“The meeting began the process of drafting the said code of ethics, which will be open for signature to all African lawyers, law firms, law societies and bar associations,” they said.
