The Programne was also a forum for health education by the health staff for the mothers and children on how to wash their hands properly before touching any food they want to eat. It was an opportunity for the rural mothers to be educated on the need for them to always wash their foods or fruits before eating to avoid contacting disease that would result to sickness.
Daily Trust currespondent who monitored the exercise in some of the Local Government Areas of Imo State alongside the UNICELF media monitoring team saw a good number of women, children who turned out at their various localities been attended to by the health staff.
The team in the course of the monitoring visited Amata- Amaraku Primary Health Care Center in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Primary Health Care Center Okwelle in Onuimo LGA, Agbaja Health Care Center in Nwangele LGA in Okigwe zone of the state.
Similar visit was also made to other Health Care Centers in Orlu and Owerri zone by the team where it was observed that the drugs earlier supplied by the United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) as were  adequately administered to people free of charge.
Speaking, the Primary Health Care Liaison Officer Imo State, Dr Edom Uchechukwu described the exercise as a tripartite arrangement between the Federal Government through donor agencies, the State Government through the State Ministry of Health and Local Government Area through ministry  of Local government and Rural Development.
