According to her, “With over 20 million Catholic women as members, we have a great numerical strength which we would channel into the cause of womanhood in Africa.”
Speaking on her agenda for the organization, Onyeabo said, “I intend to open up the organization a little bit, expose it to the international community and let the world know what we are doing.
“Twenty million Catholic women in our membership is not what you can toy with. It is a large number of well mobilised women.
“The network has no match; we can reach even the remotest village in the country. It is not going to be an organization that is local, it will be international.
“We intend to collaborate with other women in the world in eradicating violence against women, to fight against abortion and all other ills that area against women.”
Also speaking at the event, the Catholic Archbishop of the Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, His Grace, Archbishop John Onaiyekan, described her emergence as a step in the right direction for the organization.
He said, “I am not surprised that you emerged the president of this noble organization because you have played several leadership roles in the past and you have discharged your duties with utmost responsibility and fear of God. I, therefore, have no doubts that you will succeed in taking this organization to greater heights.”
While congratulating Onyeabo, the parish priest and pastoral council of St. James Greater Parish, Enugu, Rev. Father Egwom Donald, expressed confidence in the new president’s ability to give effective leadership to the organization.
According to him, “The excellent leadership attributes that earned Mrs Onyeabo this exalted post would be put to bear in the way she runs the organization.”
