The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on Nigerians to continue to trust INEC to conduct credible elections.

Ezeokafor made the call at the Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Nodu  Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State while reacting to the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections by INEC.

He said the news came to him as a shock, noting that the postponement had caused a lot of financial losses to Nigerians, especially those who travelled far to participate in the process.

The Catholic clergy added however that even in the face of the challenges, Nigerians must not place personal gains above national interest.

He appealed to Nigerians to strive hard and come back weekend to vote for leaders who have interest of the masses at heart.

According to him, it was better to have a delay and get it right than rushing to get it wrong.
