Gunmen at the weekend raided the Bureau De Change office at Sakpoba Road, Benin City and made away with over N12 million.
Daily Trust gathered that the robbers who dressed like the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), trailed one of the Bureau De Change men who went to the bank to withdraw money to the office.
It was gathered that the robbers followed the victim quietly while people around thought that they were SARS men who escorted the victim to the bank.
A source told our reporter that people around got to know that they were armed robbers when the robbers started shooting sporadically after they had robbed the victim of about N9 million and another victim of N3 million.
One of the Bureau De Change men, Alhaji Haruna, said each time armed robbers attacked them the police would never come to their rescue until the robbers had left.
The police spokesman in the state, Stephen Onwuchei, said he was not in town to have details of the incident.
