Breeze FM based in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has concluded arrangements to return to the airwaves after its demolition.

Managing Director of the Radio Station, Mr. Lawani Aboki told Daily Trust on Sunday that the station has relocated from the Natwyta House along Shendam Road to Fatima House, along Jos Road and are waiting for the National Broadcasting Commission, (NBC), to supervise the new equipment and site for approval to continue broadcasting.

The station, established in 2017, was demolished alledgedly on the orders of administration of former Governor Umaru Al-Makura.

He said he has certificate of occupancy for the land and had no problem with the state government and worked for the emergence of the then administration, even though he was then in the opposition Labour Party.

Mr. Aboki said he would never do anything to tarnish the image of the state and was also conscious of being monitored by the NBC.

He said the ruling APC has more airtime on the station than other opposition political parties, but they did not want any opposing voice to be heard. He alleged that the cause that led to the demolition of the station was because it broadcast the industrial action embarked upon by the labour union in the state and that did not go down well with the then administration.

The transmitter, tower-mast and the building were demolished.

However, few days ago, the Breeze FM won its court case against the Nasarawa State Government and was awarded N72 million as compensation. The managing director said they are satisfied with the ruling despite demanding for higher compensation.
