The bomb explosion at the ‘mammy market’ in Mogadishu Cantonment, killed four people and injured 26 others.
Correspondents of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited some of the spots, report that the parks were unusually empty.
At Wonderland Children’s Park, few fun seekers were seen walking around while the pleasure rides that were usually filled up with children were practically empty.
The Personnel Manager of the park, Mr Paul Oko, told NAN that the low turnout could be as a result Friday’s incident.
Oko said people might be afraid to visit public places but added that the management of the park have made adequate security arrangements to address the concern of visitors.
“With the security threat now, I’m afraid it might affect us as people will be afraid due to what happened yesterday.
“We have a lot of securitymen on ground. We have soldiers, police, SSS and men of the civil defence. We have about 70 securitymen on ground,” he said.
Oko expressed worry that the present situation in the country might scare investors.
“The security situation is not good for the image of the country and it will affect investors; if there is no security, people will not come to invest,“ he said.
An attendant at the park, Aisi Ikhibhiabor, told NAN that the park was a beehive of activities on Christmas Day but noted that the bomb blast might have forced people away from the park on new year day.
