Adamu Mohammed, Mohammed Musta-pha, Bura Hassaini and Mohammed Ibrahim are facing a three count charge in the court after being arrested in the Wasein area of Orile-Iganmu Lagos by security operatives while allegedly planning to attack the Kirikiri prison in Lagos. They pleaded not guilty after hearing the charges. The prosecutor from the Federal Ministry of Justice, E. K Ugwu, prayed the court to remand them in prison until the trial date.
The presiding judge, Justice Saliu Seidu, ordered them to be remanded in prison and fixed December 16, 2013 for trial. The charge says the suspects are members of the proscribed Boko Haram contrary to Section 2 of the terrorism prevention Act 2011 and should be punished in accordance with the country’s anti-terrorism laws.
Adamu Mohammed and Mohammed Mustapha were accused of conspiring with others now at large to commit felony and terrorism by organising to attack the Kirikiri prison to free detained members of the sect which contravenes the terrorism prevention amendment Act 2013 and is punishable under the same Act.
Bura Hassaini was said to have between last year and this year in Bama, Borno State, assisted Boko Haram activities by monitoring activities of security agents and reporting same by telephone to the leadership of the sect in the area under the leadership of one Yamodu.
