Residents of Fan District of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State have called on the government and security operatives to come to their aid as gunmen have laid siege to their area since last week.
Addressing newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital yesterday, Dr Daniel Kim, who spoke on behalf of Fan District, said the attackers were so organized that they even adopted the use of rocket launchers which was launched from Mangu area in Rambuu village of Fan.
He said prior to this current siege, seven people were killed in Ndige village, followed by another three on the farm, but that nobody from any quarter came to commiserate with them.
Dr Kim urged the Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong and President Muhammadu Buhari to kindly intervene urgently and save them from the ongoing attack.
He also called on the Plateau State Commissioner of Police and the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) to step in and arrest the attackers before more blood is shed, adding that the people of the area are helpless and cannot defend themselves.
When contacted, the Spokesperson of OPSH, Major Adam Umar, said he could confirm the claim by Fan community that they were under siege by gunmen, but that men of the security outfit have been engaging cow rustlers in the area for some days now.
