To express their displeasure over the state of the nation, some activists on Friday set a casket ablaze while calling for an end to bad governance in the country.

They also vowed to register their grievances by voting out the bad government in 2023, lamenting that while the present government promised Nigerians change in 2015, the situation of the country has gone from bad to worse.

The activists under the aegis of Activists for Good Governance (AGG) addressed a press conference in Lagos before setting a casket labelled, “Bad Governance” ablaze.

They also carried placards with different inscriptions to drive home their points. Of particular concern to the group is the galloping inflation as they lamented that successive governments have made life unbearable for the masses.

National Coordinator of AGG, Comrade Declan Ihekaire, said “the precarious state of economic woes” had further “plunged millions of Nigerians into the downward spiral of global poverty index.”

“We are addressed as the giant of Africa but in reality, we are only the most populated country without a social safety net for our masses.”

Ihekaire also lamented the insecurity in the country, saying terrorists are now being branded as bandits.

The activist also called on the National Assembly to immediately raise a Bill or the President should raise an executive Bill that bars public officials from travelling abroad for medicals and restrict public officials’ wards and children from attending private schools let alone schooling in diaspora.
