Passengers on board Kaduna-Abuja railway were subjected to much hardship from failed air-conditioning system as well as over loading of passengers yesterday.
Our reporter who boarded the evening train from Kaduna observed that passengers had to use hand fans, magazines or newspapers to fan themselves while many windows had to be opened for ventilation.
Due to overloading, many passengers remained standing for the two-hour journey to Abuja.
With most passengers standing at the aisle, the journey was uncomforting for passengers.
Also observed was ticket racketeering as touts bought and resold tickets at exorbitant prices to passengers who could not get the tickets from the regular channel.
