The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said its August 17, 2016 national convention date remains sacrosanct despite yesterday’s interlocutory injunction.
A statement last night by spokesman of the caretaker committee Prince Dayo Adeyeye said the judgment of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on July 4, was very clear that the caretaker committee was duly constituted and recognized, adding that, in line with that, the scheduled National Convention would still hold.
Adeyeye called on Nigerians to know that Justice Okon Abang is “deliberately engaging in acts of derailing the country’s democracy” explaining that the court he resides over is not an Appeal Court that can set aside the judgement of a Federal High Court.”
