The Ashaka Cement Company, a subsidiary of Lafarge Holmes has committed over N788 million to developmental projects in 13 host communities in Gombe between 2014 and 2015.
Managing Director of Ashaka Cement Mr Leonard Palka stated this yesterday while speaking at the commissioning of 2015 developmental projects at Ladde Bage village in Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State.
He said some of the projects are electrification of three newly relocated villages , construction of two classroom blocks at Mannari and provision of maternity clinic at Wurobapparu.
Palka said earlier in the year the company commissioned solar bore holes in four villages, award scholarship to 200 undergraduates and 72 youths were empowered after they received training in skills acquisition that included welding, electrical installation, carpentry, tailoring and masonry.
Managing Director said the company lost over N5bn from the two attacks they suffered from Boko Haram insurgents in November and December last year and assured that the company will continue to its best for their host communities despite security and economic challenges in the country..
Permanent Secretary, state Ministry for Rural Development Dr Yusuf Garba commended the company for complementing government by effort through execution of laudable projects that will help to improve the living standard of their host communities.
