Sanusi had arrived aboard a chartered Gulf Stream aircraft which taxied to a private terminal in company of close allies but was shielded from members of the public and journalists.
However, some sympathizers had thronged the terminal building on hearing that he had arrived to welcome him. Top among his friends who were at the airport to welcome him were Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and his old friends at King’s College, Lagos- Wale Edun, Durosimi Etti Albert Okumagba.
Sources said he had a brief chat with agents of the State Security Service (SSS) and was immediately driven to an undisclosed location in Ikoyi and went to a friend’s house to relax.
However information filtered out that his travel documents may also have been confiscated by the SSS operatives. The SSS in Lagos declined comments.
