Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State loyal to the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, the state capital, demanding the resignation of the party’s Chairman in the state, Prince Gboyega Famodun.
APC lost the July 16, Osun governorship election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Many blamed the APC’s defeat on the infighting between Aregbesola’s camp, called “The Osun Progressives (TOP)” and that of Gov Gboyega Oyetola.
Comrade Abosede Oluwaseun, while speaking on behalf of the protesters, said the party needed to be restructured from ward to federal level ahead of next year’s general elections.
He said, “The chairman has totally demonstrated lack of capacity to manage the party, and this reflected in the result of the July 16, governorship election.”
Responding, Prince Famodun decried the call for his resignation, describing it as shameful, callous and wicked.
Famodun, in a statement by his spokesmn, Kola Olabisi, said, “It is inconsiderate for the Aregbesola supporters who glaringly worked against the success of Gov Oyetola at the poll to now be canvassing the restructuring of the party through a sponsored protest.
“The protesters should be told that they lack moral right to either suggest or effect any likely solution as it is on record that they massively and collectively worked against Oyetola, the APC governorship candidate in the just-concluded election, in line with the series of their threats.”
