Ardo calls for resignation of PDP national, state officers

Ardo noted in a statement yesterday that the national leadership of the party as well as members of the National Working Committee (NWC) should resign, alleging that they were responsible for the party’s defeat at the March 28 presidential and April 11 governorship polls.
He said the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) members should also resign for President Goodluck Jonathan to appoint an interim committee to hold the party for three months within which a fresh election should be conducted to elect credible and responsible leaders across the country.
He explained that  if the present crop of party leaders at the state and national levels are allowed to continue in office, the party would not be able to re-capture power in the nearest future but would continue to sink deeper.
“Against the backdrop of the disastrous performance of the PDP in the 2015 general elections -both at the national and state levels, it is my view that the PDP national leaderships must take full responsibility and consequently resign their offices forthwith, if the party is to reposition itself and recapture power in the nearest future.
“Although the Buhari candidacy was seemingly unassailable in the circumstances of the 2015 national politics, it is clear to all discerning pundits that the actions, in-actions and choices of the party’s national leaderships were mainly responsible for the creation of these unfavourable political circumstances. To this extent, the party leaderships can be said to be mainly responsible for the party’s defeat,” he said.
He said President Goodluck Jonathan has saved the nation by accepting defeat, adding that it is now for him to save the party by accepting this advice, thereby leaving behind a solid base of internal democracy in the PDP.
