Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. A. A. Sule, has assured of his personal and administration’s support for the bid of his predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor made the pledged when he received a delegation of the National Committee of APC Support Groups for Al-Makura (NACASA) in his office.

Governor Sule pledged to support the NACASA group as soon as the zoning has been done in favor of Nasarawa State.

He commended committee leadership for giving him the honour of as National Patron of the group.

Ther Governor also commended the group on their resolve to promote his former boss for the APC National Chairmanship, urging them to proceed with caution, until the position is finally zoned to the North Central, and particularly, Nasarawa State.

He said that as the initiator of the project, he had started consulting with key stakeholders of APC, in an effort to get the position zoned to Nasarawa

The governor said he believes that, zoning the position to Nasarawa was justified, fair and equitable, given the role the state played as the only CPC state that was involved at the formative stage of the APC.

“Nasarawa deserved to be compensated for helping to midwife the birth of the APC, with the brinkmanship of my former boss, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura,” the governor said.

He promised to continue to lobby all stakeholders in the party to support Nasarawa State for the next Chairmanship of APC.

Speaking earlier, National Chairman of NACASA, Hon. Nonso David Ezedimma, said that what is worth doing is worth doing well, thus everyone must support Senator Al-Makura’s APC national chairmanship bid.

Ezedimma said that part of their strategies was to make Governor Sule the National Patron of the group, to ensure the realisation of their objective.

“The choice of selecting who heads the party should be squarely on the members not few individuals,” he said.
