The Secretary of APC-Akida, Barrister Abbas Machika, has described as “unfortunate, ill-founded, ill-motivated, ill-timed and illiterate” a statement credited to Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State who alleged that the group is working for PDP.
In a chat with Daily Trust, Machika said, “The governor cannot make that sweeping statement, knowing fully that we, in APC-Akida, were never in PDP unlike him who now comes into the house of Buhari to enjoy his popularity, and is now working against Buhari in Katsina State.”
He said the APC splinter group in Katsina was not fighting Buhari, “but only raising questions why things are not going according to the APC constitution, manifesto and mission statements.”
According to him, “The governor knows we in APC-Akida are working for APC. He is the one going round inviting PDP members such as Musa Adamu from Funtua zone and a former Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Ya’u Gwajo-Gwajo, from Daura zone.
“The first issue we raised is that the APC in Katsina has been hijacked by the governor and some individuals when vacancies were created. And instead of using the constitutional provisions to conduct elections into the vacant offices; that was not done, and up till today, there is no lawful party chairman in Katsina State,” he said.
