Abubakar said yesterday in an interview with our correspondent at his residence in Otukpo that he was not against the creation of a new state for the people of the Benue South senatorial district except that some persons behind the issue are not being sincere.
“The issue of Apa state was just a tactics to fool Idoma people.” he said.
The 2011 deputy governor candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) argued further that the proponent for the new state creation in the last few years used it as a bait to curry political favour which he had achieved for himself and immediate family alone.
Commenting on the possibility of an Idoma governor in Benue state in 2015, Abubakar opined that it would be realised if only the Idoma race awake from their slumber to support one of their own.
“It is possible for an Idoma to become governor in 2015 but the question is whether they would recognise the anointed. If they see the person, will they recognise him?”
