The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has thrown their weight behind the Senate on its position that there is no immediate solution to the present power sector challenges just as it called for intervention.

The ANED spokesman, Barrister Sunday Oduntan told our reporter that, “the Senate is 100 per cent correct.”

Oduntan who lauded the Senate for separating politics from their oversight functions on the power sector said, “The Senate is right because there is no solution. Am happy that the Senate now has a better understanding of the power sector than before and I commend the senate for not playing politics with power.”

He said there has been some level of politics on improving the sector. He cited the instant of the recent declaration by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on customers’ eligibility that directly takes huge customers from DisCos and connects them with GenCos in a presently uncompetitive power sector.

Chairman of Senate Committee on Privatisation, Ben Murray-Bruce (PDP, Bayelsa) on Wednesday said the entire privatisation process must be revisited to understand the faults and correct them.
