The group, Movement for the Conduct of Local Government Elections in Anambra State, embarked on peaceful protests and carried placards while expressing dismay over the postponement of the elections.
The protesters could however not see Governor Peter Obi and were eventually addressed by the special adviser on political matters to the governor, Sir Godfrey Muotolu who told them that the governor was not equally happy with the said postponement of the local government elections by ANSIEC without recourse to the state government.
The group later marched peacefully through the town singing songs and making unprintable statements in castigation of the government and ANSIEC
Earlier in his address, the leader of the group, Comrade Osita Obi said the candidates have been milked dry before the postponement as huge sums have been spent by the candidates to qualify for the election.
