Over 1000 beneficiaries of federal government’s N-power programme in Kano state have complained over non-payment of allowances for six months.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our reporters during a protest on Friday said since the programmes started they have not received any allowance even though they report for work every day.
They accused the federal government of been insensitive to their plight even in the times of economic hardship.
One of the beneficiaries, Asalafi Isah Ibrahim who is also the president of N-power youth association Kano state, said out 4, 963 N-power beneficiaries, 1001 persons were affected across the 44 local government areas of the state.
He said 375 of the affected persons have some incompatibilities with their account details and credentials.
He however said, ‘’626 others have undergone screenings severally, with their account details and credentials authenticated but yet have not received anything over the past six months and no reason was given for that’’.
He said the issue has been reported to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for intervention but all has failed to yield result.
He therefore appealed to the government to address the issue with deserved urgency in order to be able to achieve the objectives for which the programme was meant.
