The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the 2019 Ahlan Cup, Barrister Isaac Danladi has said the well attended pre-season competition is living up to its enviable rating.
At least 12 Nigeria Professional Football League clubs are taking part in the tournament which commenced yesterday at the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano.
The defending champions Kano Pillars lost 0-1 to Plateau United in the opening match.
Speaking to Daily Trust, Danladi who is the immediate past chairman of Nasarawa United expressed satisfaction with the attendance at the tournament.
“I am highly delighted by the turn out at the tournament and it is not surprising because Ahlan Cup is obviously the biggest pre-season tournament in Nigeria.
“We have some of the biggest clubs in the NPFL here trading tackles with some ambitious clubs in the lower divisions.
“As organisers of the tournament we are doing everything possible to stage another hitch-free competition. We are also happy that the ever enthusiastic Kano fans are having a swell time,” he said.
