The Oyo State House of Assembly yesterday passed into law the State Tertiary Institutions Staff Retirement Age Bill, 2016 with age falsification now attracting a penalty of N500,000 and/or five years imprisonment.
The law also states that the age of retirement for tertiary education staff is 65 years.
The passage of the Bill into law followed the presentation of the report by Mr Afeez Adeleke and Mr Buliamin Azeez of the joint committees on Education, Science and Technology and Establishment, Training and Poverty Alleviation.
Also, in a matter of urgent public importance, Mr Olusegun Olaleye of Ibadan North II state constituency decried a rise of incidents of cultism in Agbowo, Barika and Ijokodo areas of Ibadan, the state capital.
