A former assistant coach to the national basketball team, Emmanuel Odah, who made the revelation in a chat with Daily Trust lamented that the menace has stunted the growth of basketball game in the country.
According to Odah, apart from preventing players to stay long on the big stage, it also stands as a source of embarrassment to the country amongst other nations.
“I coached the U-18 in Kigali and we had an issue with a guy over age. We had already won six matches with Egypt. We both have the highest number of matches won but because of what this boy did; they retrieved our matches and sent us back four steps. That’s how Nigeria was knocked out,” Odah stated.
