Mwanzn Isa Muhammad, the campaign coordinator for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Yusuf Agabi in Akwanga Local Government Area has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the re-election of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Muhammad, who held the office of chief campaigner for Agabi in Akwanga, dumped the PDP governorship candidate soon after he (Agabi) was handed the party flag at a ceremony after his victory at the PDP primary election.
Muhammad’s defection brings to three, the number of prominent PDP members to defect in Akwanga in a week alone; the first two being a former federal lawmaker, Senator John Danboyi, and a former minister, Hussaini Akwanga.
Muhammad told Daily Trust on phone on Tuesday that he consulted widely to take the decision, explaining that “I went round and I was advised to dump the PDP and my former boss, Agabi, and to join the APC.” He said the selection of Silas Agara, his Mada kinsman from Akwanga has boosted APC’s chances in the area, adding that the performance record of the APC administration in the state is one to attract such defections from the PDP.
