Members of the Adamawa State Hunters Association yesterday barricaded major roads to the state police command in Yola to protest the alleged killing of their colleague, Abdullahi Ali.

Ali was said to have been arrested over alleged car theft and detained at Doubeli Police Station where he was believed to have been tortured to coma before he was taken to Yola Specialists Hospital where he eventually died on Monday.

The secretary of the association,  Jibrilla Ahmad Modi, who addressed journalists after a meeting with the police, alleged the deceased was tortured to death after he was wrongly accused of car theft.

He alleged that the police wrongly arrested  Abdullahi Ali instead of the actual aspect, one Ali Abdullahi, who was reported to have stolen a car.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer,  Othman Abubakar, said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Doubeli Station had been removed; while four investigation officers were in detention at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Yola.
