The Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Magaji Mohammed, has called on government at all levels to address gaps in the health policy, budgeting and administrative frameworks with a view to improving child and family health services in the country.
He made the call yesterday while receiving a team of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) and the Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health in Nigeria (PACFaH) who paid him an advocacy visit in his palace.
Alhaji Mohammed lauded the initiative, adding that it would eradicate the health challenges faced by children and mothers at the grassroots levels.
He said the visit was timely, coming at a time when his council was embarking on enlightenment campaign on immunization exercise within the area council.
“A healthy family is a healthy nation. You can be rest assured that my royal council will help to take your message to our people within the area council and also inform the appropriate authorities for proper consideration and implementation,” he said.
Earlier, the President of FOMWAN, Abuja chapter, Hajiya Maryam Aliyu in her speech attributed the high rate of child killer diseases and maternal mortality in the country to the poor child and family health services especially at the community levels.
