The Wuse Zone 4 Traders Association that comprises Bureau de Change (BDC) operators along the Ladi Kwali Street in Wuse Zone 4, Wednesday, said it has complied with the directive of the FCT Administration (FCTA) by sanitising the street of miscreants and drug peddlers.

The forex dealers also said their members that were using some parts of the road to solicit customers had been dislodged.

The dealers, therefore, appealed to the FCTA to assist the association in reclaiming its disputed land to enable them move to their own property.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, Malam Yahaya Jidda Kida, secretary of the elders forum of the association, told City News that, “We promised the authorities after our meeting that in three days we will act and bring sanity to the area (Ladi Kwali Street), and also to show the stakeholders that our members are not only law abiding, but we are not part of those breeding problems in the area.”

He said a follow up letter by the association was sent to the Director of Security at the FCTA, a copy of which was made available to City News, detailing some efforts that were made to sanitise the area.

He further said, “We immediately commenced the process of withdrawals of all the canopies on the streets; moving back all our members from the street to the gardens, profiling and using of identification numbers by all members for transactions, final withdrawal from the street, immediate fishing out of touts, miscreants and drug peddlers from the area in conjunction with security operatives to bring normalcy to the area.

“Having done all that is necessary in sanitising the area, we are appealing to the FCTA to allow us continue our legitimate business, putting in mind our contributions to the economy: revenue and development of the FCT.’’
