A witness said three suspected armed robbers attempted to break into the bank.
He said customers using the bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) had to take to their heels when the police stormed the bank.
Confirming the incident, DSP Bisi Ilobanofor, the spokesperson of Oyo State Police Command, said the police successfully prevented the robbers from carrying out the crime.
“Our men arrived on time, prevented the three men from breaking into the bank and then arrested them,’’ she said.
Ilobanofor said the police are fully prepared for robbers in the state.
“I am sure they are becoming aware that Oyo State is too hot for them now. In the past few weeks, we have prevented attempts by robbers to rob banks in Ibadan and I am sure this is why they are moving to remote places like Iseyin. But they will always meet our men combat-ready anywhere they go,’’ she said.
She said the three suspects have been handed over to the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for interrogation.
She added that they would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter was concluded. (NAN)
