Daily Trust gathered that the operations took place at Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Terrenganu among others and those arrested are to be deported to their countries for contravening immigration laws.
However, those who have valid visa were released after spending at least eight days in detention.
The President, Nigerians in Diaspora, Malaysia (NIDOMY), Chief James Emarievbe disclosed that seven Nigerians are still in detention while 18 including students had been released after the intervention of the embassy and the suspects’ institutions.
“It’s true that 25 Nigerians were arrested in Cheras. They spent eight days in detention as the immigration insisted on carrying out thorough investigation about their status in Malaysia. Most of them have valid passports. But they did not have it on them when they were arrested,” he said.
