The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has faulted the policies and programmes of Governor Seriake Dickson, describing them as “anti-people, wicked and painful.” A statement issued yesterday by SICO director media and publicity, Chief Nathan Egba, expressed regrets that the governor introduced unpopular initiatives deliberately to inflict pain on the citizens.
It said civil servants were the worst hit as the Dickson administration introduced a “draconian regime through multiple taxation to shortchange them and take part of their meager salaries through the back door and keep them in perpetual poverty.”
Egba also accused the governor of starving the entire civil service of funds for the day-to-day running of government as well as denying civil servants promotion on the excuse of lack of money to pay them on the next salary grade.
“The government has also inflicted pains on the pensioners in the state by not paying their entitlements for months. The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organization identifies with the pains of the pensioners and promises to clear all outstanding payments as soon as the APC takes over the affairs of government,” the statement said.
