The Plateau State Project Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’S) Hon. Samuel Solomon Damla yesterday said the lack of sustainability among rural communities is a major impediment to achieving the goals in the state.
Damla told journalists in a an event to mark the second year anniversary of the SDGs, “Communities do not own the projects and this is a very big problem for us because usually when we build and equip a clinic or construct classrooms and boreholes, we hand them over to the communities to manage and sustain them.”
He said some communities would sooner get water from streams than fix minor problems on their boreholes.
