The suspended Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado has withdrawn from the governorship race under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
However, he emerged as the senatorial candidate of the party to represent the Kano North senatorial district.

He confirmed this to Daily Trust on Thursday morning saying his supporters and the stakeholders of the party prevailed on him to make the decision, which he said he believed was for the best of his senatorial district and the Kano PDP family.
Muhuyi, who is considered one of the front runners for the governorship ticket, belongs to the faction of the Kano PDP loyal to former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali and led by the Northwest Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, Bello Hayatu Gwarzo.
While the governorship primary being conducted by the Gwarzo faction was still yet to be concluded as of Thursday morning, the one conducted by the faction led by the state chairman of the party, Shehu Sagagi has produced Mohammed, son of former military Head of State, late General Sani Abacha, has the governorship candidate of the party.
Daily Trust reports that the parallel senatorial primary elections conducted by the party in Kano only produced parallel winners for Kano Central senatorial districts but failed to produce senatorial candidates for Kano North and Kano South senatorial districts.
