Suspected hoodlums on Friday night attacked ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at a Registration Area Centre (RAC) in the Tudun Wada area of Gombe State metropolis.
It was reported that the suspected thugs robbed the victims of their phones and injured some of the ad-hoc staff passing the night at a school, ahead of today’s elections.
Eyewitnesses said three persons have been rushed to a hospital.
The Gombe State Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, confirmed the incident.

He said the ad-hoc staff went to the center alone without waiting for security personnel that would accompany them.
According to him, the suspected thugs attacked the centre after sensing that the ad-hoc staff were vulnerable without security operatives to protect them.
The police spokesperson said only one person, a female Corps member sustained injuries and was being treated at a hospital.
