Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Wednesday night abducted and killed a police officer attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Oyigbo, Rivers State.
A witness account had it that the gunmen have been terrorising the Rivers/Abia boundary areas of the state, adding that the deceased officer was on special duty in Oyigbo when he was abducted, taken captive in the bush and later killed.

The source said passers-by discovered the decapitated corpse and alerted the police.
It was further gathered that the suspected criminals later went berserk and set ablaze a Toyota Hilux belonging to the SARS personnel attached to Oyigbo before escaping to neighbouring Abia community.
When contacted, Rivers State Police Command spokesman, SP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident but said that information at his disposal was very sketchy.
