Barely one week after two drug suspects excreted seven wraps of illicit drugs at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), yesterday arrested another drug trafficker at Enugu airport with 74 wraps of cocaine.
This came as NDLEA agents at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) Enugu also foiled a plot by a suspected drug trafficker to use an innocent passenger in smuggling cannabis concealed in noodles to China.
NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, Mitchel Ofoyeju, who confirmed both arrests, identified the suspect who excreted 74 wraps of cocaine as a clearing and forwarding agent.
According to him, the suspect was arrested while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to China. He said that the Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah advised members of the public, particularly passengers not to collect consignment from people.
NDLEA commander at the Enugu airport, Adeofe Adeyemi gave the names of the suspects as Adibe Wisdom Baloba, 47, and Esonwunne Onyechi Benson, 31.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that Esonwunne was twice deported from China in 2008 and May 2016 on immigration related offences.
Adibe who is a father of five said that he accepted five thousand dollars to smuggle cocaine to China.
