The Supreme Court has concluded hearing of the appeal of the Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel challenging the nullification of his election by the Appeal Court.
The Election Petition Tribunal had earlier cancelled the election in18 of the 31 Local Government Areas of the state before the Appeal Court in Abuja last December nullified the entire election on the grounds of non-complaince to the Electoral Act.
APC candidate Umana Okon Umana had challenged the April 11 election at the tribunal.
The seven member-panel of Justices of the apex court led by the CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed has also commenced hearing into the appeal by the Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu challenging the judgement of the Appeal Court in Owerri which ordered that APGA candidate Alex Otti be sworn-in having scored the highest lawful votes in the April 11 and 25, 2015 election.
