Supreme Court affirms Gov Sani’s election, postpones Rivers verdict

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Umar Sani of Kaduna State.

A five-member panel of justices presided by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on Friday held that the appellants failed to prove the allegations of corrupt practices and non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Ashiru Isa, had challenged the election.

The PDP alleged that Uba was not duly elected by the majority of valid votes cast in the election, adding that some polling unit results were wrongfully cancelled aside from inconsistencies in accreditation records from INEC.

The apex court panel, however, postponed judgment on the Rivers State appeal.
