Super Eagles ready to soar as Uyo camp opens for AFCON 2023 qualifiers

Nigeria have already claimed 12 points from their opening five matches in AFCON qualifying Group A after winning four games and suffering a solitary loss to Guinea Bissau in Abuja while Sao Tome has no chance of qualifying for the tournament.

Victor Osimhen leads the qualifying series with seven goals, two ahead of Senegal’s Sadio Mane. If he scores more against Sao Tome and Principe, he could solidify his position as the top scorer and increase his chances of winning the prestigious African Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, German Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen have congratulated their star striker Victor Boniface on his call-up to the Super Eagles.

While congratulating him on the club’s verified Twitter page yesterday, Bayern Leverkusen says it’s a well-deserved call-up for the Nigerian striker.

Boniface who is part of the 23 players called up for the final AFCON qualifier has netted five goals in just four appearances since he joined Bayern Leverkusen in the summer.
