Super Eagles made my day in Uyo, says Hon. Jajere

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Muhammed Jajere, has said he was thoroughly thrilled by the performance of the Super Eagles against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.

Last Sunday, the three-time African champions trounced the Falcons and True Parrots 6-0 in their final 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Napoli hit-man, Victor Osimhen, who had scored four goals in the 10-0 drubbing of Sao Tome in the first leg, bagged a hat-trick in the match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Speaking on the outcome of the match, the representative of Fune/Fika Federal Constituency in Yobe State congratulated the Super Eagles for picking the 2024 AFCON ticket in style.

In a chat with Daily Trust, Hon. Jajere said “The Super Eagles made my day in Uyo for not only qualifying but their display of football skills in the match against Sao Tome and Principe was heart-warming.

“All the players were impressive on that day, especially Osihmen. I like the way he shows commitment once he is on the field. We are lucky to have a striker like him.”

On the choice of Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo by the NFF for Super Eagles World Cup qualifying matches, Hon. Jajere said “We don’t have any other option as far as I am concerned.

“It’s the best stadium in Nigeria now. Look at even the fans that trooped out to watch the game against Sao Tome. The NFF made the best choice.”
