Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the former junior international goalkeeper said the coaches have been working hard to produce a formidable team that would do the nation proud.
Attah said even as the domestic league has not resumed, the coaches have continued to look around for quality players who would give a good account of themselves and if possible win the trophy for the first time for Nigeria.
He said even as he would not like to stick out his neck to say that the Eagles would return with the trophy from South Africa, he was optimistic that the team will not disappoint its teeming fans.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that we are gradually getting set for the 2014 CHAN in South Africa. The coaches have continued to work towards assembling a formidable team for the competition.
“I am so much satisfied with the level of commitment of the players. The fight for shirt is really serious and I am sure the coaches will have a hectic time drawing the final list”, he said.
Attah who is also the chairman of the management committee of the recently revived NYSC football team said despite spending the Christmas in camp, the players and officials are not disturbed.
He said everybody’s morale is still high. “For some of us spending the Christmas in camp is nothing new. This is the fifth Christmas I have spent in camp.
“This is not a problem because we all look at it as a national sacrifice. This is our own way of contributing to the greatness of Nigeria”, he stated.
