Sultan receives Buhari, says “We remain father of all”

As the 2019 general elections draw near, the President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged politicians to practice the game according to the law, adding that they should not consider politics as war.

He asserted that traditional rulers remained fathers of all and prayed for successful conduct of 2019 general elections.

The royal father who stated this when President Muhammadu Buhari paid a courtesy call on him, assured that they would continue to give their fatherly advice for the interest of people.

While harping on peaceful coexistence, he advised politicians against breeding any form violence.

The Sultan also spoke against corruption in all forms, adding that Islam discourages evils.

He assured to partner with all organs in promoting transparency and accountable dealings, urging people to cooperate with organisations in ensuring good governance.

The religious leader lauded President Buhari for the efforts towards tackling security challenges.

He, however, urged the government to provide adequate working tools and encouragement to security agencies while advising personnel to live up the expectations.

The Sultan presented a pamphlet on good leadership to President Muhammad Buhari.

Also speaking, Buhari who was in Sokoto  for the presidential rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) pledged to continue to provide purposeful governance focused on infrastructural development and enhancing people’s lives in the country.

He pointed out:”We made fertilizer abundant and affordable which facilitated increased bumper harvest and people minds shift as many at present practice farming because of the gains.”’

On security, he said previously 17 local government areas were controlled by Boko Haram group but that presently none while pockets of crimes had been reduced drastically and contained.

Buhari also said previous maladministration was addressed by his administration. “Leadership is a trust, with our knowledge; we will not allow anybody to cheat people or collaborate on any dishonest dealings,” he said.
