“We are fully in support of the creation of state police in order to bring an end to the seeming endless security challenges in the country,” he said while paying Sallah homage to Governor Aliyu Wamakko at the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto.
“Most state governments, if not all, provide one form of assistance or the other for security agencies. They build or renovate offices for them, make vehicular provisions and provide all manner of assistance for them. The time for the creation of state police is now,” he added.
Governor Wamakko, while responding, noted that security would be enhanced if state police is established. He also said that  state police will reduce difficulties presently being faced by policemen posted to states not familiar to them. He lamented that state governments have continued to suffer under security challenges.
