The Niger State government said Suleja, which is regarded as the commercial centre of the state has the viability to host numerous markets.
Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, made the assertion on Friday while leading some state executives to assess the level of ongoing projects at the Suleja International Market being executed directly by the state government, and Madalla Modern Market, which is being built through Public-Private Partnership.

While at the site of the new Madalla market located off Zuma rock along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, Matane said Suleja is viable to host numerous markets due to its proximity to Abuja, the nation’s capital, ease in doing business, and also market potentiality.
He added that the state government was interested in the completion of Madalla market in particular, in order to move out from its present location, which is notorious for fatal accidents and fire incidences.
He also said that the new market under construction would boost the economic status of the council, and the state at large.
In his remarks, Umar Ibrahim Dodo, a principal partner in the construction, urged the state government to execute access roads as contained in the agreement, while promising to deliver phase 1 of the market by the first quarter of next year.
