Sugarcane market fined N50,000 over sanitation

A mobile court in Kano State has fined a sugarcane market in Kano metropolis the sum of N50,000 over a breach of the monthly sanitation law in the state. 

 The Magistrate, Auwal Yusuf Sulaiman, also ordered the closure of the market located at Kofar Waika along Muhammadu Buhari Way and requested that the owners should bring themselves to the Ministry of Environment for punishment. 

 Similarly, the mobile court arrested 111 defaulters which led to the generation of N240,300 fine. Among the defaulters were tricycle riders, motorcycle riders and drivers.

Speaking during the exercise, the Kano State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, described the exercise as successful as majority of the people in the state were complying with the order.
