The Coalition of Concerned Youth Leaders for Good Governance has called on Nigerians, especially youths across the country not to be swayed by those fighting President Bola Tinubu over the subsidy removal, saying that the country stands to benefit from the policy on the long run.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, National President of the coalition, Al- Mustapha Asuku Abdullahi asked the youths to disregard threats from those he describes as enemies of the present administration who have been enjoying the largesse of subsidy to the detriment of Nigerians.

Abdullahi flanked by other executives of the coalition noted that previous administrations failed to take the necessary steps in stopping subsidy because of their vested interest and the fact that their cronies were reaping billions of naira from the subsidy regime.

The Youth Leader said: “The recent subsidy removal of fuel subsidy was part of his commitment to take the nation to the next level. This is the decision previous Government could not take because of their vested interest in the heinous Subsidy-Business that have impoverished millions of Nigerians while enriching the few.

“People should not be hoodwink into believing that the Government is not sensitive to the plight of the people. I want you to be part of history by encouraging the present Government to succeed.

” The Nigerian Youth who form the fulcrum of strength of any economy should be abreast with the benefits of the Subsidy removal, hence the need for us as an umbrella body of every Concerned Nigerian Youth to educate, create the desired awareness of the enormous benefits of the Subsidy Removal.”

He said so far the Federal Government under president Tinubu has saved well over One Trillion Naira in the past three months following the removal of subsidy on Petroleum, assuring Nigerians that some of these Savings will be used as Low-Interest Loans for Businesses, including Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises.

“As a country that is driven by the forces of Informal Sector, you will agree with me that, this is a step in the right direction. The Government have also plan to spend N100 Billion to acquire 3,000 Units of 20-Seater CNG Buses to be distributed to Transporters across Nigeria at an interest rate not more than nine per cent. This again will cushion the effects from the transport sector.”

He said palliatives are already been distributed across the states, adding, “for these strides to be consistent and sustainable, it needs the supports of every Nigerians, irrespective of your divide to embrace the challenges so we can eat the Gains.
